COMMISSUM PRESS RELEASE – COMMISSUM CONTINUE SENIOR TECHNICAL RESOURCE RECRUITMENT WITH NEW SENIOR CONSULTANT NORBERT BALIGA
Norbert joins Commissum at a very exciting time for the Edinburgh-based Cybersecurity consultancy. His addition is part of the firm’s ongoing growth, increasing its ability to deliver cutting edge cyber security services for its clients.
Norbert studied Computer Science at Budapest University of Technology and Economics, where he specialised in information security; his thesis involved completing a vulnerability assessment of the university’s infrastructure.
After a brief spell as a PHP web developer, Norbert put his skills into practice building networks and gained valuable practical experience in infrastructure with a telecom company in Hungary. His next steps were into Java web development, where he applied himself to development of enterprise appsusing Liferay, an enterprise portal solution used to make custom portlet applications in Java.
Security was always a key concern for Norbert when developing apps – something he made sure others on the teams he worked with were aware of throughout the process. “I made sure to keep up to date with the world of security by attending conferences and following news online. This helped keep me security-focused in all projects I was involved in, as well as increase my knowledge and security skills.”
Norbert went on to formalise his security skills by becoming a Certified Ethical Hacker with the KÜRT Academy. Following his certification, he was asked to teach classes on buffer overflow, expanding the academy’s offering in this area while increasing his own expertise.
Prior to joining Commissum Norbert was with global professional services giant Deloitte, where he further honed his web application and external penetration testing skills, as well as increasing his skillset to become responsible for mobile platform penetration testing, which he went on to teach others. Norbert went on to further attain certifications and complete respected technical security courses allowing him to bring both his academic and practical knowledge together and brings new capability and capacity to the technical services department.
“People at Commissum have a stronger, more personable connection with their colleagues than anywhere I’ve worked in the past.”- Norbert Baliga
Norbert is able to combine his experience in the field of IT with his wealth of knowledge and specialist cybersecurity skills, and he’s looking forward to making a valuable impact at Commissum and for its clients. He said, “In previous roles at larger companies, you don’t really see the effects of your efforts. I’m excited to put my skills into practice with Commissum and help shape the company going forward.”
Norbert’s excitement at joining Commissum has been clear since day one; “There’s been so much to learn since I joined Commissum, and everyone’s been friendly and helpful. I feel great as I can approach anyone with any questions I have. People at Commissum have a stronger, more personable connection with their colleagues than anywhere I’ve worked in the past.”
Norbert thrives on a challenge both at work and outside of it, literally throwing himself into paragliding and parachuting recently. His new colleagues at Commissum are hoping he’ll also have time to show them a few moves – his other passion is Cuban salsa dancing.
Jay George, Chief Operating Officer at Commissum, offered this comment: “Norbert joins us at a time of exceptional growth at Commissum which mirrors trends across the security industry. Discovering, hiring and nurturing the very best talent allows us to continue to deliver exceptional results for our clients while increasing the capacity of our consultancy and information security offering. Only by recruiting the best talent to meet the challenges created by the shifting threat landscape can we continue deliver the best service for our clients in the future, and Norbert’s contribution will be central to these efforts.” ENDS
